Who is responsible for this ugly eyesore?

WHAT an eyesore! My usual walk to work takes me past the Falmouth Town Dell car park, surrounded by trees and bamboo, which I always find enjoyable to see each morning. Not anymore though, because there has appeared a huge black car park display system, more suited to a city than a town. It's a big ugly eyesore and completely not needed there. It's not the only one to have appeared in Falmouth. There are more dotted around and all very unsuited for their locations. Whoever decides on these plans and installations shows no consideration for the impact they have.  more...

He hasn’t got the bottle to seek election himself!

DAVID Saunby has the audacity to tell us who we should vote for in the local elections, as if we can't make up our own mind. One person we can't vote for however is David Saunby himself. He happily criticises local politicians, but he hasn't the bottle to put himself forward for election. Seeing he won't put up, the best thing he could do for us all is to shut up.  more...

I am not prejudiced against students

First of all, may I congratulate Mr Holles on his interest in my election communication. Lower tax increases

ACCORDING to your recent report, Cathy Bakewell promises lower council tax increases with a Unitary authority. Did I read that right? I looked again and, sure enough, that's what your report said, NOT lower council taxes, BUT lower council tax increases. That means despite the massive potential for economics in merging such large organisations, Mrs Bakewell is still intent on continuing to fund and grow her massive, ineffective and inefficient bureaucracies year on year at the expense of already grossly overtaxed tax payers who have little choice other than to pay up or risk the bailiffs and/or imprisonment! Sufficient reason alone not to support her aspirations for a Unitary authority!  more...

Making a claim

I WITNESSED the fall of a white haired lady in front of the Virgin Megastore in North Street. She was knocked out and the left side of her face was badly injured. I placed her in the recovery position and very quickly, two traffic wardens were in attendance and an ambulance arrived. The cause of the fall was a "cocked-up" longitudinal galvanised gully cover.  more...

Unacceptable level of consultation

AT the County Council's Scrutiny Committee last Tuesday, I listened to Hazel Prior-Sankey, Somerset County Council's Transport portfolio holder, bemoan and bewail at what she perceived as the Highways Agency's unacceptable level of consultation with regard to their proposed upgrading of the A358.
