The Conservative's local Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Falmouth and Camborne, Ashley Crossley, has met chief executive Jonathan Griffin and staff of the National Maritime Museum to highlight the facilities on offer at the museum and to discuss the promotional campaign to attract visitors for the coming year.
Ashley Crossley was shown around the National Maritime Museum by Jonathan Griffin and took part in some of the interactive activities.
In particular, Ashley was shown the link-up with the Falmouth Maritime School, where trainee craftsmen work in the museum allowing visitors to see how vessels are built and talk to the trainees.
Ashley Crossley also praised the volunteer staff at the museum, many of whom were sailing enthusiasts, who brought with them expertise they could share with visitors as they toured the museum.
Jonathan Griffin highlighted the fact that the museum was independent of central control and relied on local people visiting and using its facilities to contribute to its success.
Ashley Crossley said: "The National Maritime Museum is a fantastic experience. It is our flagship Cornish museum which is independent from central control and it must stay that way.
"I urge everyone to visit and see the best of what Cornwall can offer."
